The operation occupies a strategic position in the Tremonteix eco-district, above Clermont-Ferrand.
It concerns three lots, dedicated to social housing and carried out for Auvergne Habitat.
They border the square, in the heart of the new district.
The project articulates different urban atmospheres by proposing various typologies with collective housing on the square side, intermediate housing on the south side, and individual housing to ensure the transition with the neighbouring pavilions.
The complex offers a good density while preserving the porosity of a system that allows views, landscape and public space to pass through the operation.
A pedestrian alleyway crosses the project and serves the various buildings.
Ultimately, 13 buildings make up this 52-unit housing program.
The architectural writing accompanies this fragmentation by deliberately marking the volumes and roofs of the different blocks to form a village aggregation, in reference to a model that is more rural than urban.
Wood construction supports this architectural positioning.
Among the main devices implemented are the following:

• The generalization of the wooden structure with CLT floors and MOB façades,
• An integrated macro-component prefabrication protocol,
• The use of healthy materials, mostly of vegetable origin,
• Solar domestic hot water production with vacuum collectors,
• The climatic dedication of the five façades with a priority orientation to the South, neutral gables, and a protected gallery access from the North for collective housing,
• The finishing and insulation panels that pass in front of the frames and ensure the continuity of the envelopes,
• Special attention is paid to airtightness (between 0.4 and 0.7 M3h/M2 depending on the building) and acoustics between dwellings (acoustic complexes made of concrete screeds cast on sanded honeycomb above CLT floors),
• Outdoor adjustable sunbreakers to protect all bays
  and lastly, perennial materials, particularly for façades (high density resin panels, pre-greased wood cladding, wood-aluminium frames, etc.).

The wood species used are spruce for solid wood framing, pre-stained Douglas fir for siding, pine for exterior decking, finger-jointed pine for frames, and spruce for CLTs.
